'Domestic Travel' is defined as official travel to any destination within Australia. For travel insurance purposes, this should be further than 100 kilometres from the campus or the traveller's place of residence.
'EMS' or 'Expense Management System' is the system utilised to request, approve and acquit travel costs as well as other functions including employee reimbursements.
'Frequent Traveller' is a person who travels more than three (3) times per year
'International Travel' is defined as any travel booking which includes an overseas destination
'Lowest Logical Airfare' or 'LLA' means the lowest airline fare available at the time of booking, including both restricted and flexible fare types, and irrespective of the airline carrier. For Domestic travel, the LLA must allow for up to a one (1) hour leeway in scheduling, which may necessitate that the employee arrives up to 30 minutes prior to the start of his/her UNSW business and may require up to a 30 minute wait after the planned business ending time to take advantage of lower air fares. For International travel bookings, this leeway is two (2) hours, and should not involve more than one stop and/or connection in the traveller's one-way route.
'NS Financials' is a system utilised to request, approve and acquit travel costs as well as other functions including employee reimbursements.
'OBT'or 'Online Booking Tool' the online travel booking tool for making reservations electronically for Domestic travel bookings
'Reasonable Costs' are defined as all legitimate work related expenses, which must be incurred to conduct official university business effectively
'Reasonable Travelling Distance' means the distance between the location of the accommodation and the address being visited for the purposes of the trip. A 'Reasonable Travelling Distance' means up to a 15 minute commute on whichever is the most convenient and economical (keeping in mind safety) mode of transport available.
'Preferred Supplier' is a selected supplier or travel service provider, which offers special commercial benefits to UNSW.
'T Card': (abbreviation for Travel Card) means a UNSW credit card. Cards are identified by UNSW branding.
'TMC' or 'Travel Management Company' or 'Preferred Travel Agencies' means a UNSW appointed specialized business travel agent. Information on UNSW's Preferrred Travel Agencies may be found on the Procurement travel webpage.
